Caring For Your Candles

Candles transform an atmosphere through scent & light, changing the way we feel in a space. They can be relaxing, uplifting and have been a ritual for centuries. Taking a moment in the flickering glow of a candle can definitely do just that, comforting, grounding and relaxing us. We put so much care & love into our artisan soy candles that we want you to get the best out of them.

Here's our top tips for candle care so you can enjoy an even greater candle experience and get your sense of smell tingling.

The first burn is the most important

When you first light your candle, set aside enough time (3 hours for our candles) to make sure the top layer of wax is fully melted. This is the best way to ensure an even burn each time. As wax has a 'memory', it means that each time you light your candle after this the wax won't ‘tunnel’ (leave wax around the edges).

Snip the Wick

Before wick trimming, always extinguish the flame and let the candle come to room temperature. Then, trim the wick  by 0.5cm using a  wick trimmer or pair of scissors. This will prevent soot from forming, ensuring a steady, ash free flame. A wick trimmer's plate-like design is ideal to catch the burned wick and keep the candle wax clean from soot.
We usually trim our wick just before we light it.

Burn Time: Keep it lit… But not longer than 4 hrs

We recommend that after the first burn you should try to keep your candle lit for a minimum of 1.5 to 2 hours on subsequent burns and never more than 4.

Upcycle your candle jar

Give your candle vessel new life when it’s finished burning. Simply pour hot water into the vessel to remove hardened wax, then wash with soapy water. You can then reuse it to house pens, make up brushes or flowers – anything your heart desires!
This is a great way to reduce waste and reuse your candle vessel, while also adding a touch of personality and uniqueness to your space.
